He started his career in local radio before moving into television as a trainee reporter with STV.
When the breakfast TV station GMTV was launched, he became Scotland Correspondent and then Europe Correspondent, based in Paris before returning to Britain as a correspondent and presenter with the station,
In 2000, Stephen returned to Scotland to present a range of programmes for Scottish Television. Alongside the daytime talk show “Room At The Top”, he presented “Scotland Today”, a weekly politics show, election programmes, his own evening talk show, countless Hogmanay programmes and documentary series including “The Talent” and “Rich Gifted and Scots”. Latterly he fronted STV’s live daily teatime magazine programme “The Hour”.
He now runs Scotland’s first specialised food and drink communications company, writes for the Daily Record and The Scotsman and presents a weekly programme on BBC Radio Scotland.
Described by the Scotsman as “one of the most distinguished television journalists working outside London”, Stephen is a past presenter of the Royal Television Society award for best regional presenter.
